The Animals Role

The majority of animals on planet earth exist because of us. And no that is not a good thing. Humans have been using animals for as long as they have existed, the difference today is that there is a small percentage of people who value non-human animal lives enough to not exploit them for their own gain, the damn vegans. This suffering and death the animals go through is the role humans have imposed onto them, denying them the right to life, what role do you humans have to - for example a more intelligent alien race?
